Improving the Dental Health of all Rhode Islanders

Dental disease can affect daily activities and significantly diminish the quality of life for many Rhode Islanders, especially the uninsured or those with low incomes. As a result, Delta Dental of Rhode Island established a permanent $3 million endowment to support dental health initiatives for children, low-income and elderly Rhode Islanders, including frail seniors in nursing homes. The Fund formalizes our philanthropic efforts under one umbrella, enabling us to reach more people and streamline our grant process. 

Over the years, Delta Dental has awarded grants through the Fund to organizations like St. Joseph Health Services of Rhode Island, Blackstone Valley Community Health Care Inc., Rhode Island Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped, Rhode Island Hospital’s Samuels Sinclair Dental Center, Providence Community Health Center and Carelink Pace.

The Delta Dental of Rhode Island Fund is administered by The Rhode Island Foundation, the state’s most experienced and largest grant-making organization. Grants are awarded to qualifying charitable organizations for programs or capital expenditures that increase access to dental care for at-risk, vulnerable Rhode Islanders.
