Bell Ringer Award: June 2013
Delta Dental and its ad agency were presented with a Gold Bell in the “Product/Service Publicity Health Care Campaign” category at the 2013 Bell Ringer Awards ceremony on Monday, June 10. Distributed by the Publicity Club of New England, this award recognizes an outstanding marketing campaign that effectively promotes a product, service, treatment or cause within the health care realm.
On February 7, 2013, Delta Dental received an Excellence Award in the “Community Relations/Cause Marketing” category from the Southeastern New England Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). Excellence Awards commend the employment of relevant market research, careful planning and sound execution to create a superior public relations strategy. Industry judges, this year from the Yankee and Capital Region New York chapters of the PRSA, consider how these elements are able to be merged and integrated into a successful promotional campaign.
A winning marketing plan:
As a state-wide and service-oriented event, the Mission of Mercy naturally lent itself to a comprehensive, multi-media promotional strategy. Organizers of the inaugural free dental clinic harnessed public support and secured media coverage across the state before, during and after the event. In addition to providing free dental health care and education, the clinic also advocated an awareness of unmet oral health needs in the Rhode Island community.
The success of the 2012 Rhode Island Mission of Mercy is perhaps best evidenced by its inspiring and prolific transformation into an annual event. In only its second year of operation, this year’s clinic saw a 112% increase in the number of dental procedures provided, a feat made possible by the support of hundreds of volunteers and more than $525,000 in donated dental care.
