Q. What is covered through my dental plan?
A.  For a detailed breakdown of your personal benefits, visit Members Online - our online benefits and eligibility feature. You can also refer to the benefit literature available through Brown University’s Insurance Office, or call InfoLine, our automated phone system, at 401-752-6100 or 800-843-3582.

Q. Can I enroll my family members?
A. We offer individual plans, two-person plans and family plans. An individual plan covers the student only. A two-person plan covers the student and spouse, or student and one dependent. A family plan covers the student, spouse and one or more dependents. If you choose the Family Plan, your spouse and children under the age of 19 are eligible for benefits.

Q. How soon can I receive dental services?
A. After you enroll, you can use your benefits as soon as the plan year begins on August 15.

Q. If I choose to drop my student dental coverage during the year, will I get a refund?
A. There are no premium refunds, and retroactive cancellations are not permitted. You may end coverage by submitting a termination letter.

Q. What happens to my coverage at the end of the plan year?
A. All members will be dis-enrolled at the end of the plan year. During the following open enrollment period, you can re-enroll as long as you are an active student.

Q. What happens to my coverage if I’m no longer a Brown University student?
A.  Your coverage will remain in effect until the end of the covered year.

Q. Can I enroll next year if I am still a Brown University student?
A. Yes, you can re-enroll as long as you are an active student.

Q. Do I have to go to a particular dentist?
A. You always have the freedom to choose any dentist; however, your out-of-pocket costs will be higher at a non-participating dentist. In Rhode Island, more than nine out of ten dentists participate with Delta Dental.

As a member of Delta Dental, you enjoy distinct advantages when you visit a participating dentist. The dentist agrees to accept our payment as payment in full - minus any applicable deductibles or co-insurances - and you are protected against being billed for any remaining balance. A participating dentist will also file your claims directly with us and handle all paperwork.

Q. Are there any waiting periods to receive coverage for services?
A. There are no waiting periods on any benefits associated with this plan.

Q. Who do I call with questions concerning my enrollment?
A. The Brown University Insurance Office is the part of Insurance & Purchasing Services that is responsible for the University's student health and dental insurance plans. You can reach the Insurance Office at (401) 863-1703. For plan benefit questions, call Delta Dental at (800) 843-3582.
