Q. How do I enroll in Delta Dental plans through HealthSource RI?
Delta Dental of Rhode Island offers qualified dental plans for small businesses, as well as for individuals and families, through HealthSource RI, Rhode Island’s health benefits exchange. To enroll, visit HealthSource RI.
You'll pay HealthSource RI directly for your plan. Once you enroll, Delta Dental will administer the plan, including sending new ID cards and processing claims. Most importantly, all Delta Dental plans through HealthSource RI include the Essential Pediatric Dental Benefit as required by the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
Q. Is my small business eligible for coverage through HealthSource RI?
The Delta Dental Premier for Small Businesses plan is designed for employers with 50 or fewer full-time equivalent employees. Check with your broker or a Delta Dental representative to see if your business meets these guidelines.
Q. What are the dental benefits offered through HealthSource RI?
Delta Dental plans offer coverage for preventive and diagnostic benefits (e.g. cleanings, exams and x-rays with no deductibles). Fillings, root canals, extractions and crowns are covered with co-insurance, after the deductible is met. See benefits for details.
Q. What are Pediatric Essential Benefits?
Pediatric dental coverage for children under age 19 is one of 10 required benefits under the ACA. This benefit provides 100% coverage for the most commonly-performed preventive procedures for children – x-rays, exams, fluoride and sealants – with no annual or lifetime maximums. Coverage for fillings and other services is also included.
Q. How can I find out if my dentist participates?
In Rhode Island, nine out of 10 dentists participate in the Delta Dental network so chances are your dentist already participates. In addition, you'll have access to the nation's largest network of dentists. The Delta Dental Premier network includes more than 152,600 dentists and more than 339,500 office locations.

Q. If I visit a dentist who is not in the Delta Dental network, will my visit be covered?
For small business plans: Even if your dentist does not participate, you will still be covered. However, your out-of-pocket costs may be higher because non-participating dentists do not have a contract with Delta Dental and are not required to accept our fee as payment in full.
For individual and family plans: No. If you have selected an individual or family plan, your plan only covers services provided by a participating dentist. There is no out-of-network coverage in these plans. You may find a participating dentist here.
