Keeping Dental Health Fun
February is National Children’s Dental Health Month. Make oral health fun with these tips:
- Toothbrush Timer: This musical tool on the DDPA Mobile App will help remind the whole family to brush for two minutes, twice a day. Don’t have the app? Play the first two minutes of your family’s favorite song and don’t be afraid to use that toothbrush as a microphone!
- Mouth Portraits: Have your family check out the insides of their mouths with a flashlight and mirror. Then, use markers, crayons or even clay to re-create what you see. It’s a great way to learn more about your teeth and how to care for them.
- Trivia Time: Teeth can do a lot more than just chew. Although they may seem small, they have incredible strength. Did you know that molars can bite down with 200 pounds of force alone and that incisors can exert 30 to 50 pounds of pressure as well? It’s like having tiny superheroes in your mouth!
Remember to brush your teeth with fluoride toothpaste and clean between your teeth for a healthy smile. And don’t forget to schedule regular fluoride and sealant treatments for kids.
