Spring Cleaning for Your Dental Health
Spring cleaning often means clearing out closets and ditching the old to make room for the new, but spring is also a great time to clean up your dental health routine. Start by checking the oral health care products stored in your bathroom. Here’s what you need to know:
- Toothpaste, mouthwash and floss all have expiration dates. While using these products after they've expired won't cause any damage, the active ingredients that help fight cavities and decay may not work as well.
- Replace toothbrushes (electric and regular) after three or four months, or sooner if the bristles look worn out and frayed.
- Store your toothbrush in an open holder away from other toothbrushes. Keep the holder far from the toilet to keep your toothbrush out of bacteria's way.
